Miami Horror - Echoplex

There is nothing I love more than seeing the finished product.

What seems like an age ago now, Rachel & I were able to work on the latest Miami Horror film clip for their track 'Echoplex'. The day was spent trekking from one random location to the next, but luckily the weather was fantastic which gave us beautiful lighting.

The film clip was to have a home video feel behind it, very laid back which meant that makeup was very much about fresh faced youth and hair loose with a small amount of texture & minimal volume.
Nails were kept in summer pop tones, such as a double decker bus red, an acid blue & a turquoise.

Although hard to see here, in the clip you get a clear view of Xanthe's polish by Miss Frou Frou. It is most definitely one of my favourite hues.
Xanthe Breen.

For a similar look to Hanalei, try O.P.I's What's with the Cattitude?

Driving to the third location for the day. The car in front was carrying the models...needless to say we lost them at one point due to the car breaking down.

ENJOY!

Betty's back.

If there's one era I love for feminine chic, it's the late 40's early 50's. So you can imagine my excitement upon viewing the Dior Spring/Summer 2011. Revamping the pin-up girl look, models were sent down the wharf themed runway with signature red pouts teamed with electric hues on the eye. And the hair? Timeless Marcel waves worn with a fringe that Betty Page herself could envy.
It seems like blondes and brunettes will both be on trend this Summer, so whatever your preference ladies, your stylist is sure to keep you fashionable.
One thing's for certain though, I need to get myself one of those adorable sailor hats!

Sunday with Rachel and 'The Machine'

Ahh, so I've finally got myself a blog. Best to start with something interesting then, yes?

Let's go back to the beginning of the month! It was a Sunday, which meant that I got to work in the salon with Zoe and Jade. After helping to close up the salon, I walked as quickly as I possibly could to Fox Studios. I say quickly because that evening I was working alongside Rachel Montgomery at the Hordern Pavilion, where the two of us were lucky enough to help prep Florence Welch of Florence & The Machine and her band member Isabella.

The night began with us going between 3 different security guards in order to get our backstage passes. If there’s anyone out there who wants to try and get backstage in the future, just say your looking for the band manager ; ). After getting our passes, we were escorted to a room backstage marked with the name Flo, where inside we found Miss Florence, Isabella ‘Machine’ Summers (keyboards) and their band manager dancing along to Florence’s Ipod. If ever I've wanted to sync my Ipod up with someone else's library, it was then and there.
With roughly an hour and a half left we began prepping both hair and makeup, in between Florence getting up dancing between mascara and lipstick applications due to the excitement before her second sold out show in Sydney.

Florence went with a neutral but heavily kohl lined eye teamed with a beige lip, while Isabella opted for a her trademark black smokey eye with heavy false lashes. After brushing out rockstar knots, tonging in loose curls and slight waves and a few swigs of vodka, Florence and
Isabella were all set and ready to brace the stage in ‘Sass & Beed’ apparel.

With our job done, we were allowed to watch backstage as Florence performed a more melodic
take on hits such as Rabbit Heart, Cosmic Love and The Dog Days Are Over, as well as
her cover of You’ve Got The Love.
To our amusement, Florence also gave a quick mention to a 70’s neckglass we joked about backstage, which we ended up sending her as a thank you gift.

I'd just like to say a quick thank you to Rosemary Hamilton for the images. She nearly got kicked out by security for practically climbing onstage for us.
